School Counselor
As the Fayetteville Academy’s first full-time school counselor for PreK – 12th grade, my office is open and ready for services. The types of services I provide include individual, group, and large counseling sessions. These sessions focus on, but are not limited to the personal, social, and emotional developmental needs of the students. My role as a counselor is to allow students the opportunity to be critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and decision makers in reaching their own personal goal(s).
“Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character.”
- Stephen Covey
All students come to the Fayetteville Academy with different ideas, customs, traditions, and culture. We parents all have different ways and opinions of nurturing “character” for our children. I am only a piece of that puzzle for students to connect with to build on their own character. I’ve developed positive guidance lessons with discussions, literature, and role-playing activities for students to not only learn from me, but to listen to their peers. I’ve also incorporated the Fayetteville Academy’s mission statement by providing a comprehensive Character Education program for all students as a part of my agenda. Below is my current agenda for the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School along with other counselor duties. If there are any questions or needs please call me at 910-868-5131 ext. 3314 or email at asommerfeld@fayettevilleacademy.com
Sincerely,
