Upper school  > College Counseling

Fayetteville Academy's college guidance program is about more than getting into college. The program is a stair-stepped sequence designed to help students develop the ability and confidence to make informed decisions about their futures.

As a college preparatory, independent school, we provide a supportive and accessible college guidance process that assists each student and helps them to find their voice through introspection, allowing them to articulate their desired choices for higher education. This process begins when students are in the eighth grade, providing them with an initial career exploration and college planning tools.  As each student progresses through the rigorous college preparatory program in our Upper School, we refine their individual college search process, assist them as they begin to narrow their focus, and finally provide appropriate guidance and support as they complete their applications and ultimately select the college where they will enroll.

At all times, the college counselor is available to answer questions and provide information for students who are uncertain about their career direction and college options, as well as meet with parents to help them understand the college application process.  In our independent school environment, we work together to make sure that each student finds a place where he/she can be happy and successful.

The College Guidance Office arranges several annual events to help students in the selection process. These events include college fairs, campus tours, alumni panels, information sessions, and morning coffees for parents.  We also encourage students to arrange campus visits and experience college life for themselves.
