Admission testing is a required part of the admissions process for all new applicants to The Fayetteville Academy at all grade levels. However, testing “tools” and arrangements are different for those applicants applying to Pre-kindergarten through grade 3 than they are for those applicants applying to grades 4-12.

For new applicants applying to Pre-kindergarten through grade 3, we strive to ensure the best possible placement for children by measuring cognitive and developmental levels using the Differential Abilities Scale (DAS) in addition to a required classroom observation/visit.The DAS is scheduled directly by a licensed psychological associate with whom the school contracts in late Spring and is administered accordingly. When possible, every attempt is made to schedule the required classroom observation/visit around the time of the testing. The required testing fee for the administration of the DAS is $100.00 and must be submitted at the time application is made.

For new applicants applying to grades 4-12, a standardized achievement test (CTP-Comprehensive Testing Program) compiled by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) is utilized. We strive to provide new applicants with convenient and accessible dates for admission testing. Typically, testing dates for new applicants for grades 4-12 for an upcoming school year are scheduled on the last Saturday of each month from January through May. In addition, testing dates are scheduled every two weeks throughout the summer months. If necessary (due to various circumstances), other testing dates may be pre-arranged with the Admissions Office at a mutually convenient date and time.
Testing materials, other than those provided by The Fayetteville Academy at the time of testing, are not needed. Unless otherwise notified or arranged, all scheduled admissions tests begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and end at approximately 12:30 p.m. The required testing fee for the administration of the ERB is $50.00 and must be submitted at the time application is made. A list of remaining scheduled admission testing dates for the 2009-2010 academic year may be obtained through the Admissions Office.

CLASSROOM VISITS/OBSERVATIONS

All new applicants applying to Pre-K through grade 5 are required to schedule a classroom visit/observation as part of the admissions process.

Though not required, new applicants applying to grades 6-12 are invited and encouraged to schedule a visit for a day through the Admissions Office.
